Ajani's Vengeance

mtgfan:

Ajani awoke, his whole body a dull ache of pain. His blurred vision resolved into lantern-lit shadows flickering on an angled white ceiling. He was in a tent, at night, and its canvas flapped slightly against the breeze.

Splinter Cell Blacklist is a popular game and it still is.

Is that the most recent one?

Rules Challenge of the day - 07/23/2014

kriskurse:

Alpha has a Dictate of the Twin Gods, and a Spark Trooper on the field
Nancy has a Frostburn Weird out

Alpha attacks with Spark Trooper, and gives it Double Strike with Boros Charm
Nancy blocks with Frostburn Weird, not activating its ability

How much damage in total is dealt to the player?

——

Spark Trooper is a 6/1 with Trample, Lifelink and Haste and must be sacrificed at the end of turn.

Frostburn Weird is a 1/4 with an ability: Pay R/U: Frostburn Weird gets +1/-1 until end of turn.

Dictate of the Twin Gods is an enchantment that says If a source would deal damage to a permanent or player, it deals double that damage to that permanent or player instead.

Boros Charm has a mode that allows you to give a creature Double Strike until end of turn.

Sixteen damage will be dealt to the player. The doubling effect of Dictate of the Twin Gods only applies after damage is applied to the creature/player, which means you will have to assign 4 out of the 6 initial points of damage to the frostburn weird so that it is destroyed.

Dear Gavin, I have a "friend" who keeps jamming Elvish Visionary in every single green deck he makes. He just can't help himself, even if maybe Elvish Visionary, amazing card that it is, doesn't fit the deck. Do you have any words of advice on how to stop him? Thanks - ValueLUVR

gavinverhey:

Dear ValueLUVR,

As a fellow lover of value and someone who is likely in the top 200 casters of Elvish Visionary in the world, you’ve come to exactly the wrong place.

But if your “friend” is looking for my honest advice, I recommend only putting it in decks where the creature is relevant. Cantripping on its own is pretty unexciting, but if it’s fueling, say, Shadowborn Demon then it’s a lot more exciting.

But mostly, just tell them to keep casting Elvish Visionary. That card is like a express ticket straight to Valuetown. CHOO CHOO!

Currently on a train that’s pulling into Valuetown Station,

Gavin

Pretty much finished with this piece. Commissioned Magic the Gatherring artwork for a client. Tarmogoyf center stage against Stone Forge Mystic, Snap Caster Mage, and Dark Confidant.

This actually looks great
